Biography
Susan began her musical training at Trinity College of Music, where she graduated with a First-Class Honours degree and was awarded both the Concerto Prize and the Chamber Music Prize. She then went on to receive a number of awards that enabled her to continue her studies as a postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music.As a freelance professional flautist, Susan has performed extensively across the UK as a soloist, orchestral, and chamber musician. Highlights include concerto appearances at major venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and St John’s, Smith Square, as well as performances at high-profile events at Kensington Palace and 10 Downing Street in the presence of the Prime Minister.Susan now devotes most of her time to teaching, both privately from her home in Wanstead and at Bancroft’s and Chigwell Schools in East London.
Lessons
With over 20 years’ experience, I offer flute and music theory lessons for students aged 6 to adult. I teach using both ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses and tailor lessons to each individual’s goals—whether that’s graded exams, auditions, or playing for enjoyment.I am experienced in preparing students for music college auditions, scholarships, and diplomas with many past pupils successfully gaining places at leading conservatoires including Trinity Laban Conservatoire, the Royal College of Music, and Birmingham Conservatoire, as well as receiving music scholarships and bursaries to study at top universities across the UK.
I am also experienced in directing and rehearsing ensembles and am fully DBS checked. Lessons are engaging, structured, and designed to inspire confidence and musical growth.I offer in-person flute and music theory lessons from my home in Wanstead. Please contact me for current lesson fees.Lessons:
